The VKP measures the noise level in the steam trap for 20 seconds (time may vary depending on the device model). If the level stays above a certain threshold for a certain time period, the VKP will determine that the steam trap is failing. A simple yet reliable functioning principle that has been proven for decades. The measured ultrasonic spectrum is shown on a display unit as needle deflection on a scale, or as a curve on a graph, depending on the testing system used.
