Description

Prevent steam leakage and banked-up condensate with state-of-the-art technology

VKP Steam Trap Testing Equipment is designed to test your steam trap efficiency. Using ultrasonic technology, the VKP will determine if your steam trap is failing and if not when to perform the maintenance. Steam trap efficiency has a direct impact on the quality of your steam. Inadequate condensate removal will reduce the temperature of your steam and therefore increase the percentage of moisture in it. The more moisture, the less thermal energy can be transferred.

Steam traps are subject to wear. This in turn leads to loss of steam or banking-up of condensate. Experience shows that the failure rate of faulty steam traps is as much as 25 %! One-fourth of your traps could be leaking money out of your pocket! This failure rate can be slashed to less than 5 % with proper annual inspections and well-timed maintenance.

A failing steam trap will let an excessive amount of steam pass to the condensate recuperation system or to the atmosphere. The word excessive here is highly important since some steam trap designs do let some steam pass through during normal operation. There are many reasons why a steam trap will fail in an industrial environment.

• Improper selection of the steam trap type

• Poor steam purity

• Normal wear (without appropriate maintenance)

Steam traps of all makes can be inspected by an ultrasonic measurement device, such as VKP Steam Trap Testing Equipment, during ongoing operation. The VKP measures the noise level in the steam trap for 20 seconds (time may vary depending on the device model). If the level stays above a certain threshold for a certain time period, the VKP will determine that the steam trap is failing. A simple yet reliable functioning principle that has been proven for decades. The measured ultrasonic spectrum is shown on a display unit as needle deflection on a scale, or as a curve on a graph, depending on the testing system used. The data is easily understandable and interpretable. In addition, the application suggests for you the optimum time for maintenance of your steam traps. This results in better process and environmental performances while keeping your energy costs to a minimum.

The VKP allows you to schedule and perform maintenance before your steam trap fails.
