Draeger Polytron 8700 IR

The Draeger Polytron 8700 IR is a high-performance explosion-proof transmitter designed for the detection of flammable hydrocarbon gases in the lower explosion limit (LEL) and in parts per million (ppm). It uses the infrared Dräger PIR 7000 sensor, known for its stability, fast response, and resistance to environmental influences.

  • Sensor Technology: Equipped with the Dräger PIR 7000, featuring a double-compensated four-beam system that resists dust, dirt, and long-term drift.
  • Gas Library: Supports up to 100 gases with automatic cross-calibration using standard gases like methane or propane.
  • Flexible Measuring Range: Adjustable between 0 to 350 ppm and 0 to 100% LEL.
  • Digital Communication: Compatible with HART, Modbus RTU, PROFIBUS PA, and FOUNDATION Fieldbus H1. Integration with asset management systems like PactWare is supported.
  • User Interface: Large backlit graphic display with green, yellow, and red LEDs for status indication. Operated using a magnetic wand.
  • Relay Options: Optional three integrated relays allow standalone operation with two concentration alarms and one fault alarm.
  • Data Logging: Built-in logger stores up to 35,000 entries and displays a 15-minute history graph.
  • Remote Sensor Capability: Sensor can be installed up to 30 meters away from the transmitter using a remote junction box.
  • Housing: Explosion-proof enclosure available in aluminum or stainless steel. Rated for Class I, Div. 1 environments and IP65/66/67 protection.
  • Environmental Range: Operates from -40°C to +77°C and in humidity up to 100% non-condensing.
