Description

ABB’s VortexMaster FSV4000 series delivers robust and precise flow measurement for liquids, gases, and steam, making it ideal for demanding industrial applications. Based on the Kármán vortex street principle, these flowmeters detect flow by measuring the frequency of vortices shed by a bluff body in the flow stream. This proven technology ensures stable and repeatable measurements, even in dynamic conditions.

The FSV4000 series includes two main configurations:

VortexMaster FSV430 is the basic meter for volume flow applications. Available in flange-mount and wafer-type designs, VortexMaster FSV430 uses a two-wire transmitter with leading edge DSP-technology with excellent vibration compensation.  Intuitive operation directly through the glass makes the FSV430 incredibly user-friendly.

VortexMaster FSV450 is the advanced version with additional analog input for mass or energy flow measurement, available with integral or remote transmitter with up to 30 m (98 ft.) cable length. Because of the optional inputs, discrete flow computers are no longer needed in many applications. It uses a two-wire transmitter with leading edge DSP-technology with enhanced flow computer functionality. Signals from remote sensors like pressure, temperature, density or gas content can be read in by an integrated analog 4 … 20 mA interface and computed directly with the flow and temperature signals measured by the device itself.  FSV450 is ideal for direct mass flow or standard flow of gasses and liquids or direct mass and energy flow on saturated and overheated steam.

These models support flange connections from DN 15 to DN 300 (½” to 12″) and wafer-type connections from DN 25 to DN 150 (1″ to 6″). They offer high accuracy—±0.75% for liquids and ±1.00% for gases and steam—with a dynamic measuring range of 1:25.

Key features include:

  • Integrated Pt100 temperature sensor for economic mass flow measurement, especially for saturated steam.
  • Freely configurable LCD display showing real-time flow rate and totalization.
  • Push-button or magnetic sensor configuration, even with a sealed housing.
  • Universal switching output for pulse, alarm, or system supervision.
  • Fieldbus communication options: PROFIBUS PA and FOUNDATION Fieldbus.
  • Explosion protection certifications: ATEX, IECEx, FM, CSA.
  • Wide temperature range: -55 °C to 280 °C (extendable to 400 °C).

ABB supports the FSV4000 series with a full suite of lifecycle services, including commissioning, maintenance, and configuration tools, ensuring seamless integration into digitalized process environments.
