Description

ABB’s 266 Multivariable Pressure Transmitters are advanced, high-performance instruments designed to measure three key process variables; differential pressurestatic (absolute) pressure, and process temperature, in a single device. This integration enables dynamic compensation and precise calculation of mass flowstandard volume flowheat flow, and temperature-compensated level measurement for gases, steam, and liquids.

Key Features:

  • Multisensor Technology: Combines DP, SP, and temperature sensing for comprehensive process insight.
  • High Accuracy:
    • DP: ±0.075% of span
    • SP: ±0.05% of URL
    • Temperature: ±0.3 K (via external Pt100 RTD)
  • Wide Measurement Ranges:
    • DP up to 1450 psi
    • SP up to 5945 psi
    • Temperature from -200 °C to +850 °C (-328 °F to +1562 °F)
  • Communication Protocols: 4–20 mA / HART, Modbus RS485
  • Advanced Diagnostics: Includes Plugged Impulse Line Detection (PILD) for predictive maintenance
  • Hazardous Area Certifications: ATEX, IECEx, SIL2/SIL3 compliance for safety-critical applications

Functional Benefits:

  • Compensated Flow & Level Calculations: Real-time adjustments for pressure and temperature variations
  • Reduced Installation Costs: One device replaces multiple transmitters, minimizing wiring and accessory needs
  • Through-The-Glass (TTG) Configuration: Enables setup without opening the housing, even in explosive environments
  • Long-Term Stability: Up to 10 years with minimal drift
  • Rugged Design: Diaflex™ diaphragm and H-Shield™ coating resist abrasion and hydrogen permeation

Applications:

  • Mass flow measurement for steam, gas, and liquids
  • Level monitoring in open and closed tanks
  • Drum water level in boilers
  • Flow measurement using orifice plates, Venturi tubes, nozzles, and wedge elements

Features
  • Replaces three standard transmitters and a measurement computer
  • Increased accuracy for flow measurement using the differential pressure procedure
  • High-precision level measurement by means of multisensor technology
  • Reduced costs for planning, equipment investments, installation and wiring
  • Increased reliability and reduction in possible leaks due to fewer devices
  • Increased availability of a measuring point
  • For open and closed tanks and for drum water levels
  • Compensation of fluid and gas density variations in the tank and compensating line
  • Application-specific configuration performed free of charge on delivery or easily on site by means of DTM, a handheld terminal or the LCD indicator directly on the device
