In a significant move towards enhancing operational efficiency and environmental sustainability, a steel plant in Ontario partnered with Everest Automation, a solutions provider for a comprehensive steam trap survey and replacement initiative. This collaboration aligns with the plant’s internal environmental goals and leverages incentives from a local energy provider.
Meeting and Initial Survey
Representatives from Everest Automation met with the Superintendent of Utilities Operations at the steel plant to discuss the company’s operations and challenges. The discussion highlighted our various product offerings, technical expertise, and service capabilities, including a detailed site steam trap audit. This piqued the superintendent’s interest, leading to a request for a quote to initiate the survey.
The initial survey covered 122 steam traps along the distribution path from the boiler house to various plants using steam. The survey identified 49 defective traps, underscoring the need for immediate replacement.
Quotation and Purchase Order
Everest Automation offered a quote for replacing the defective steam traps with new high quality Gestra traps. Despite the existing variety of manufacturers on site, the steel plant had no steam traps from Gestra installed. However, impressed by Everest’s local presence and exceptional service, the superintendent approved the use of the new traps.
Following the successful first phase, the steel plant issued a purchase order for a second phase of audits, reflecting their satisfaction with Everest’s service. This ongoing collaboration not only aims to replace defective steam traps but also positions Everest as a trusted supplier and service provider.
Everest Automation’s team addressed this critical customer need with a high-potential solution, demonstrating the value of advanced condition monitoring in enhancing asset reliability and operational efficiency. The momentum from this partnership is expected to continue, with the Everest poised to play a crucial role in the steel plant’s operational and environmental initiatives.
